Two brilliantly quotable lines in the space of one post, from chris:

[M]etaphors for entropy quickly switch from fascinating to boring, usually in the time it takes to actually read them.

I am, in my own small way, trying to eek out some sort of viable, socially acceptable reason for reading The Wire- it's not easy, you know.

Except I won't, because I just got a copy of Erase Errata's Other Animals in the post yesterday, together with a kick-ass mix CD (thanks Ben!), and I've been listening to those instead. The mix CD has the Kid 606 remix of Bikini Kill's 'Rebel Girl' on there, and while it's not *quite* as amazing as his remix of 'Straight Outta Compton' (in that it doesn't manage to improve on the original), it's still extreme-noise-war-revolution, and will probably be going on a few mixtapes. Getting back into making mixtapes, inspire purely by the idea of giving them a pretentious name, but more on that another time...

Currently being rediscovered on my stereo:

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - The Boatman's Call and No More Shall We Part
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - Ease Down The Road
Asian Dub Foundation - Community Music

There's a really obvious explanation for why it's these albums at the moment, but it may only be obvious if you're in the UK and recently passed a record shop...

Will try to actually talk about these tomorrow.
Have added a few more links down the left-hand side in the last few days. Will be adding more soon: I was thinking of trying to group them in some way - peeps, cool projects, the criminally insane - but on second thoughts I like 'em as they are: no real order, no explanation, just a lucky dip...
