Brief notices:

Blackberry Belle is every bit as good as I'd hoped, already straight into my top 5 albums of the year after owning it less than 24 hours. Greg Dulli's obsessions are still the only ones really worth having - lust vs. love, sin vs. salvation - and certain tracks here, particularly 'The Killer', sound like the climax of everything he's been working towards for the last decade. No, seriously. Afghan Whigs fans, you owe it to yourself to get this (Molly, this means you). Everyone else: you ought to check it out (download 'Fat City (Slight Return)' to hear Dulli fully embrace his love of r&b production - Matthew, this means you - and by the way, the Fiery Furnaces album is due to be in possession shortly too, so don't panic).

Chicken-N-Beer basically exists for one reason: to make you laugh. Okay, so some of it is there to make you dance, too - 'Stand Up' being the most obvious example - but mostly, this is the Ludacris comedy hour. Now, some of it goes just too far in the direction of toilet humour (not just sexual humour, but in the case of one skit, literal toilet humour), but when it works, it's like watching the craziest, most R-rated cartoon - Luda Toons, maybe? On 'Screwed Up', the music even threatens to turn into zany cartoon sound-effects. Best of all is 'Teamwork', Luda's brilliantly-titled ode to group sex (Crunchy, you need to hear this if you haven't already). Get yr freak on.

Right, I'm off to the dark wild wastes of the Midlands for a few days, and may not have access to a computer for a while, so in the meantime readers: Merry Krizzistmas.
